Your host
Hi, I’m Sarah Alter.
A proud pet parent, animal lover, and the host of Fur Mama—a podcast for the people who love their pets like family.
Today, I’m a proud dog mom to Sugar, and the very proud “Grandma” to two wonderful dogs, Bean and Lily.
My love affair with animals has been a lifelong one. Like so many pet parents, I’ve experienced the joy, laughter, unconditional love—and yes, sometimes the worry—that comes with sharing your life with animals.
My passion for animals extends beyond my own pets. I’ve volunteered with animal shelters and have had the opportunity to spend time with people who dedicate their lives to helping animals find safe, loving homes. Those experiences have given me an even deeper appreciation for the incredible bond between pets and the people who care for them.
I created Fur Mama because being a great pet parent doesn’t come with an instruction manual. We all have questions: How do we understand our pets’ behavior? What should they be eating? How do we know when something is serious enough to call the vet? What should we consider when traveling with our pets? And how can we help our dogs and cats live their happiest, healthiest lives?
On Fur Mama, I bring together veterinarians, animal behavior experts, nutritionists, trainers, rescue professionals, and other passionate pet people to have honest, informative, and sometimes entertaining conversations about the things that matter most to our pets—and to us.
I’m not here because I have all the answers. I’m here because I’m a pet parent too. I’m endlessly curious, always learning, and passionate about sharing what I discover with the incredible community of people who consider their pets family.
I’m also passionate about celebrating and shining a light on nonprofit organizations, like animal shelters and rescue groups, whose dedication and hard work make such a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them.
Our pets make our lives better—and Fur Mama is here to help us be better for them.
Welcome to Fur Mama. I’m so glad you’re here. ❤️ 🐾
